Rules & Regulations

Entry Rules

  1. Must be a local member of the South Florida Chapter of National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
  2. Either design firm and/or at least one designer on the team needs to be an NKBA South Florida member.
  3. Team entries (one project completed by multiple firms) are permitted. One of the team members must be an NKBA South Florida member in good standing.
  4. The project must have been completed and installed between September 1, 2022 and up to September 7, 2024.
  5. Enter project into the one category for which it is best suited based on size and project budget.
  6. The same project may not be entered in more than one category.
  7. Fees must be paid with each entry form submitted on-line and are non-refundable.
  8. Early Bird entry opens 12:00am July 15th, 2024, with a fee of $100 per entry. The early bird submission ends 11:59pm on July 31st, 2024.
  9. July 16th, 2024 through October 1st, 2024, the entry fee is $150.00 per project submitted.
  10. Registrations must be completed by 11:59pm EST, October 1st, 2024. You will have until October 1st, 2024 to complete your entries (upload all photos, supporting documents, etc.). 
  11. Entries failing to follow the rules will be disqualified and will NOT be refunded.
  12. The decision of the judges is final.  Winners to be announced in December 10th, 2024.

Categories

The competition is divided into fifteen (15) categories. See category list tab for details.

Kitchens should be entered into an appropriate kitchen category based on square footage of the kitchen, and whether budget or luxury. While calculating square footage for kitchens, cook, prep and clean-up areas, family desk, built-in or island dining, and ‘eat-in areas’ (not formal dining) are to be included, where applicable.

Primary Bathrooms should be entered into an appropriate budget or luxury caegory. For primary bathrooms, water closets, vanities, and areas for bathing, shower, closet and dressing should be included, where applicable.

Secondary Bathrooms should be entered into an appropriate budget or luxury category. For secondary bathrooms, water closets, vanities, and areas for bathing, showers should be included, where applicable.

Powder Rooms should be entered into a bathroom category – While there are no budget or sizing constraints, we encourage creativity and craftsmanship. Vanities and toilets should be included.

Projects may be moved to an alternate category, if in the wrong category, by the judging panel, after prior notification to the entrant.

Entry Requirements

  1. Create Your Account: Registrations for this online competition first require all users to create an account on this online platform. Click Sign In in the upper nav bar, then 'Create One' to get started.
  2. Entry Form: Complete the electronic entry forms. Company identification should appear only where requested. We will request actual square footage of the space, budget and completion date. 
  3. Dimensioned Floor Plans and Elevations: No company identification or individual identification is to appear anywhere on the design drawings.
  4. Design Statement: We recommend that the design statement should be 500 words or less. Judges will be reviewing this as part of the presentation, check spelling and grammar, be clear and concise.
    1. Describe client objectives and how they were met.
    2. Explain any design challenges that were present and how they were solved
    3. Highlight design elements that are unique and memorable.
    4. If client has refused any safety products or other design criteria, explain.
  5. Photographs: Photographs are required. We recommend a high resolution .jpg image suitable for print publication (e.g. 300 dpi)
    1. Use as many photographs as needed to describe your project.
    2. Limit each photograph to a maximum file size of 10 MB.
    3. CANNOT portray any company names, project name, designer name, logos, home addresses, visible faces, or any other project identifiers.
    4. Professional photography is highly recommended for the best presentation. However, it is not required.
    5. Designer headshot is required for promotional purposes.
    6. By entering this contest, entrants are giving permission to NKBA South Florida to use their photographs for promotional purposes.

Reasons for Disqualification

  1. Your membership in the NKBA South Florida chapter will be verified! If your membership is not active, your entry will be disqualified. No refunds will be offered.
  2. Your registration and payment must be received by midnight 9/15/2024. Entries must be complete be 9/15/2024 or will be disqualified. No refunds will be offered.
  3. Any project identifier shown will result in disqualification.
  4. Failure to get all required release signatures will result in disqualification. 

Judging and Winner Recognition

  1. Judges will include a panel of NKBA certified Kitchen and Bath designers and seasoned professionals.
  2. The decision of the judges is final.
  3. Winners will be announced at end of year event on December 10th, 2024. Details to follow.
  4. NKBA South Florida reserves the right to determine the number of entries that will be recognized with an award.
  5. All winners will receive social media recognition.
